Definitely one of the most notable successes of the Energy Reform in the short-term has been the increase in exploration activities by operators and seismic companies who win any type of contract with the CNH. In June 2017, there were 15.5 offshore exploration drilling rigs, the largest number of the last 10 years, one out of two of these rigs were operated by new contractors. This increase is due to a clear and defined public policy that the Ministry of Energy has properly carried out through the main regulators of the sector.

The message is clear and sound: Mexico must increase its exploration activities to incorporate the necessary reserves that can supplant the current production of the country, which in the end generates an important balance for the development of the hydrocarbon industry in any region of the world.
